There’s gotta be somebody purposefully playing with the weather, right, thinks Posey McHicks as he tows his 2021 Sprinter 3190RLS monster fifth wheel, traversing through puddles larger than the Mariana’s Trench. Still, though, it is nice to get away from it, the moniker given to life itself by much of the living population. And as he inches perfectly into place at his campsite—leveling and pushing out the 3-slides and checking the gear in the massive exterior pass-through—his and his love can put away their stresses and engage with the outdoors. Without a flicker, the bright and calming interior springs to life as Posey makes way to the reclining massage theater seats perched in front of the entertainment centre, the low hum of the electric fireplace sending shivers of nostalgia. His partner, an expert in the world of culinary arts allows not a second to waste to extinguish the hunger for the 5-hour drive with exotic foods procured from the pantry and 4-door fridge, the solid countertops upon the kitchen island steady for knife work, and the three-burner stove brimming with excitement. Posey worries his face, as the dishes stack in the farmhouse-style sink, though soon washes away as the free-standing dinette fills up and wine plucked from the overhead storage above the secondary counter that holds the coffee maker pops open.
Night creeps in as the rain settles (rude) and with it, yawns. Posey leaves behind his partner folding in on the rear couch knitting for the bathroom, a steam chapel fit for one. Outside of the standing shower, there’s plenty of room before the vanity to dry off with a towel from the linen closet. Wow, he thinks, these towels are better than the ones at home. And before one can say, “Jeez, I’m really tired,” he’s underneath the covers of the slide-out king, kicking his toes into the air with the piles of clothes at the foot of the bed. Eventually with the washer/dryer prep he’ll set it up to be in use.
