My Dearest Mother,
I take quill to page to tell thee of our arrival in the New World, some place named Jasper National Park where, high among the mountains, ourselves and our 2020 Columbus 298RLC fifth wheel are cradled by pine and stone. Stepping out for the first time, Catherine and I drew fresh mountain air deep within our lungs before tending to the camp kitchen, supper reviving spirits as the sky became strewn with stars. The fire beside us, calming and eloquent, though as night lengthened, it persuaded us to retreat indoors, shedding our dusty garments into the washer/dryer within our bedchamber. Retiring to rest, we climbed into our king bed which we had prudently fitted with a proper mattress worthy of such generous proportions. And with that, sleep came swiftly.
Morning came with birdsong, light spilling through the windows, and where the bathroom greeted with appreciative intention. From the deep linen closet we poached fresh towels and allowed the great shower therein to entwine us. And then, onward to the kitchen, the residential-sized fridge and pantry brimming with foods from home we have pined over, the solid countertops upon the peninsula sturdy as the three-burner stove adjacent billowing steam. Eating heartily at the free-standing dinette, we wish nothing more than your presence as we hold dear the morning. Cleanup, too, was no trial with a sink that boasts two wash basins, allowing for quick work before setting forth to ramble through the mountains, committing the surroundings and vistas to memory.Â
Wearied by content upon our return, we sought rest in the rear. Catherine now claims the theatre seats, reclined before the entertainment centre as I take up the dinette to begin this letter to thee. I shall join her there when finished, no doubt sprawled upon the leather sofa like a man who has found his place in the world, if only for a time. Thus, dear mother, know that your son fares well—wondroudly appointed and rich, not in gold, but peace.
