The air turns crisp and the leaves paint the trees in hues of red and orange—the last gasp of the camping season. Tom and Laurie (or maybe you) awaken in the cozy queen bed in the front bedroom of their 2014 Eagle 26.5RKS fifth wheel. Getting ready for the day, they step inside the spacious bathroom, where the large shower waits for them, letting the warm water melt away the chill of the morning. The space between the shower, foot-flush toilet, and vanity give them the necessary room to dry off and comfortably continue their routine. Afterward, they rush back to the bedroom to pull on clothes from the deep slide-out closet.
Gurgling ferociously, the coffee maker echoes through the unit as Laurie reaches into the 2-door fridge in the rear kitchen for eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. Tom fires up the 3-burner stove and oven, the wide and solid countertops making prep and cleanup with the dual sink a breeze (no pun intended). They gather everything on their plates, Laurie scoops it on as Tom disperses it without anything touching, and they sit across one another at the booth dinette, the sun peeking through the trees into the trailer.
Outside, Laurie tends to the fire, a blanket wrapped around their shoulders watching the last few leaves fall, drifting down through the cool autumn air. Tom, bundled in five layers, sets out for a short hike. Just a little over 30-feet, the unit stands tall parked among the foliage, the sunrays casting a warm glow around it, tucked away from civilization. And though the BBQ in the front pass-through storage isn’t in use today, it’s been the centerpiece of many summer meals.
As the day fades to dusk, they retreat inside. Beside the rear kitchen, a small bar has been set up, and as they each grab their cocktails they head to the living area—Laurie curls up in the rocking chair with a good book, while Tom lounges on the sofa, enjoying a show on the TV. The soft hum of the trailer and the comfort of the space create a perfect, peaceful evening. As night comes they head to bed, sharing a look of contentment, already looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.
