Framed by neighbouring trees, a perfect slice away from even those seeking refuge from daily life, Cathy & Jarren sit under the awning of their 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 2109S travel trailer, their folding chairs yanked from the pass-through storage (an exterior grill waits its turn). But before they can flip some burgers, clouds roll in and the rain comes and comes and comes. Like when they were kids, they splash around, their laughter infectious.
Sopping wet with mud and grass dangling from their hair, they rush inside to cleanse themselves, taking turns in the standing shower and drying off with a towel plucked from the linen closet behind the foot-flush toilet. As Jarren steps into the rear bathroom, Cathy shuffles about the kitchen like a jitterbug, chopping veggies from the fridge on top the extendible countertop before throwing them into a pan on the 3-burner stove.
