July 10, 2026: Dad just bought a trailer for us to go camping. It’s a 2013 Silver Creek 26BHS travel trailer. I’m so excited to go because Dad kept telling us about his first camping trip in 1987. My dad is so old. It’s raining right now. The aluminum siding makes the rain sound louder. Mom is washing the dishes in the dual sink with my sister. We had to come in because of the rain so we made supper in here. I grabbed food from the fridge and my older brother cut them up and Dad fried it all together on the 3-burner stove. It was so good.
My brother is reading a book on the bottom bunk in the rear. He’s always reading but I tried to read one of his books a few weeks ago and didn’t understand a word. Dad is sitting on the sofa-bed with a pop, listening to music he has on playing from the entertainment centre. Since we’re camping we’re not allowed to watch TV, so it’s swiveled the other way to Mom and Dad’s front bedroom, but I just think they said that so they can watch later.
I’m sitting at the booth dinette right now, watching the rain run down the window. After I’m done writing this I’ll get ready for bed in the rear bathroom. It’s a nice size for what we need right now. This weekend is going to be so fun. Even with the rain it already is. I wonder if this is how Dad felt all those years ago.
