While in the bathroom, brushing his teeth in front of the large vanity, he let out a deep yawn, eyes watering. And yet he remains now wide awake in the living area. Grandpa’s snores grow louder from the rear bedroom as he sleeps on the slide-out queen bed. The furnace kicks on and with the slow rumble, Grandma’s makeup rattles on the small booth attached to their floor-to-ceiling wardrobe. Max gets out of bed and saunters to the chair behind the passenger seat and sets up the pull-out table to begin writing—his teacher next year already told them to write about their summer vacation and he wants to get a head start. After a paragraph, his eyes flutter. Time to sleep.
