Furry critter free – Must know tips to prevent little fuzzy friends

No Ewe, No Eeek, No Oh my gosh! Mice and other rodents will be looking for a warm place to nest once it starts snowing. Take action NOW by following these tips.

Mouse intrusion in RV’s is more common than you’d like to think. Rodents enter RVs in search of food, shelter and water, and once they settled in, they rarely exit unless captured and removed.

Learning how to prevent rodents from entering your RV is KEY. Here are a few tips to make your unit unattractive to mice:

  1. Identify problem areas and block all entrances. Mice can enter a hole the size of your pinkie finger. Here are some areas that you should check first, and once identified, properly block them.
  • Around Landing Gear (anything touching the ground)
  • Water drainage lines
  • Around Water Line Entrances
  • Around the Power Cord compartment
  • Any Holes or gaps in the Underbelly.
  • Furnace Exhaust Port
  1. Trash Free – Anytime you are away from your rig or the RV is in storage, it’s essential to take out the trash (it’s a big attractant to furry guests)
  1. Clean – Be sure that counter and stove tops are clean and free of food residue, and remove all food and snack items.
  1. Empty – If you are not using the RV, it’s a good idea to empty it of products the rodents could use for a nest. Paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, old papers, brochures, receipts, clothing or anything they can use for making a nest.
