Papa Rick’s Goldie Cakes!

A few months ago we ranked the best boxed pancake mixes. Cute right? Well I hope you’re ready, because No Bull RV has its own pancake mix – and it’s out RIGHT NOW! And while this blogger is not yet prepared to return to the trenches of pancake warfare (and neither is my kitchen) I feel confident in telling you that this right here: gold medal.

That’s right Bob, Papa Rick has blessed us with three flavors of Goldie cakes: Original Buttermilk, Blueberry Buttermilk, and Banana Buttermilk. Yum!

So what are the stats?

First, they’re super easy to make and require little more than a skillet (electric or campfire – but we have our preferences), spatula, water – and any fixings you enjoy on top (oh and plates and cutlery, but I’ve been known to just toss a cake on a napkin or paper towel and eat it like a burrito…that little voice that tells you to take 8am lectures in college is the devil, don’t listen to them).

But I’m getting off topic. Shoulder devils aside, these mixes are heavenly. Each in their own easy-to-pack bottle, you don’t need to measure anything! Just fill the bottle with water to the top of the label (helpfully indicated) and follow the shaking instructions to mix! We’ve got them step-by-step so even in your most drowsy (or hungover) state, you can get breakfast going.

There’s also 30 grams of protein per bottle! So your protein intake will depend on the size of your cakes, but these give you a good balance of carbs and protein to keep you going through the day – way longer than any of the others in our previous match up.

And the ingredients? Even the most health conscious can’t be mad when you’re looking at wheat flour, pea protein, buttermilk powder, and cane sugar.

Yeah, cane sugar – no overly processed or cheap corn syrup BS – you can pronounce every ingredient and know what they are too!

A few tips:

  1. Follow the directions carefully, if you don’t loosen the powder mix as directed in step 4 you won’t have the correct water-to-powder ratio and it’ll mess up the pancakes! It also makes it very difficult to really get everything incorporated – as my very sore arms can attest!
  2. Pour immediately after mixing, try not to let it sit after the batter is mixed. This can make it difficult to pour! Although, adding a splash of water and shaking vigorously can help – just try not to add too much.
  3. Enjoy with friends! One bottle can make enough pancakes to share, and because of the protein they’ll fill you up fast!

Papa Rick’s Goldie Cakes mix is made in Canada, and only found at No Bull RV. Grab a bottle for yourself and enjoy!
