Travel Journaling
If you’re of the writing persuasion, enjoy a bit of old-school memory keeping that’s more honest than Facebook or Instagram, and more personal than an open world blog, try travel journaling. Now there’s nothing wrong with any of those previous options but some of us prefer the personal and private to revisit than trusting Mark Zuckerberg with our personal details.

There are a couple ways to do this
Option 1: Just grab any old journal and start writing; Indigo offers some beautiful options but you can grab whatever you want from pretty much anywhere.
Option 2: Get a guided (RV tailored) journal like this one from Enchanted Willow that has pages of checklists, summaries, and other sections to keep track of specific details. (Here’s an example page)
Journaling can be a great way to remember the little details, like: did you actually like your campsite, did you use the amenities, meet any new people?
No matter how you choose to write your journal, here are a couple ideas to keep track of:
- Driving route
- Your campsite location
- Activities
- The weather
- Any restaurants you enjoyed or shops you visited
- Major highlights good and bad (was the road under construction or did you see anything interesting)
- What you want to do next time
- What you DON’T want to do next time
Even if you’re not journaling for the story, writing down these kinds of details all in one place can help you plan future trips and give advice to others!
