Mom remains buried in her book, the dishes after dinner being her task.
Taking turns—dad goes last since he takes the longest—the bathroom becomes a revolving door, freshening up before bed. There’s plenty of room inside whether someone needs to stretch their legs after that morning cup of coffee, or drying off after a shower. The oversized vanity contains everyone’s toiletries with enough room in-between that none of them touch each other (a pet-peeve of moms).
Saying goodnight, with the glow of the moon peeking through the bottoms of the shades, the eldest hooves themself into the loft bunk, as mom and dad tuck the little ones in the mid-unit bunks. “Can our friends come next time?” one of them asks. “Of course,” mom replies, remembering the sofa and dinette convert into their own sleeping quarters. Heading to the rear and reaching into the deep dresser drawers for their pajamas, mom and dad snuggle under the covers of their queen bed and embrace the coming dreams before the dawn of another adventure.
