This 2011 Forester 3171DS is about making a smaller space work for your family. It’s got a classic layout with lots of storage and bunks, so take on the next great road trip in style, while relying on a Ford E450, 6.8L V10 Triton.
Behind the cab is the main living area, there’s a convertible three-seater sofa and booth dinette opposite, both with seatbelts for safe travels. Then mid-cabin is a corner kitchen, with a 3-burner stove, oven, microwave, and 6 cu-ft fridge; both the stove and one side of the sink have covers, with a flip-up extension at the end to increase your prep space. Along with plenty of drawers and cabinets, there’s also a pantry by the main entrance and cupboards above both the sofa and dinette. The area above the cab is taken by a bunk that includes privacy curtains and a swing TV.
Down the hall there’s the bathroom to one side, and a flip-down bunk over a convertible sofa to the other. A small entertainment center is between the kitchen and bathroom where there’s some extra storage, a TV, and CD/DVD player. Both the bunk and sofa have privacy curtains and are part of the camp side slide that extends back into the master bedroom. In turn, the bath has a wide vanity that includes a built-in laundry hamper, a glass doored tub-shower, and foot-flush toilet. Above the vanity is a medicine cabinet along with a linen cupboard.
As previously noted, there’s a slide that extends into the bedroom, it holds a wardrobe with tons of hanging space and drawers as well as a mounted TV in the middle. Now, we understand that when a whole wall is taken up the loss of windows can be a concern – no worries! There’s a large window in the rear wall and a second above the head of the queen bed so you get lots of natural light. It also breaks up the space between two additional closets that hover over nightstands on either side of the bed and overhead cabinets.
